Clara Groba

CLARA GROBA

She got her cello and chamber music Degrees at Coruña and Oviedo’s Conservatories. Especial mention to her both cello teachers for their great contribution and to whom she will always be thankful, Lito Iglesias (Barcelona’s Conservatory) and Mats lidström (London Royal Academy).

 

As a soloist, she played the ‘Cello Concerto Añoranzas’ by the composer Rogelio Groba plenty of times at the  ‘Museo Reina Sofía’- Madrid, ‘Instituto Cervantes’-Wien, ‘Teatro Eduardo Rocha’-LaPlata, ‘Teatro Metropolitan’- Buenos Aires, Merkin Concert Hall-New York, ‘Teatro Jovellanos’-Gijón, ‘Auditorio de La kutxa’ – Vitoria, ‘Universidad Autónoma’-Barcelona, ‘Sala Mozart Palacio de Congresos’-Zaragoza as well as on stages of the 5 principal cities of Holland and all around the Galician’s geography.

 

As a principal cello, she got this role for the Coruña’s ‘Orquesta Municipal’ and stayed in for five years, collaborated with the ‘Westminster Symphony Orchestra’ during her two-year stay in London and founded and played for eighteen years in ‘Galician Chamber Orchestra’ until 2013.

 

As a chamber musician, she was member of different groups and played in Spain, Russia, Estonia, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Holland, Germany and Portugal. Nowadays, she is focused on cello & piano recitals.

 

Regarding the discography, she has recorded live for ‘Radio Galega’, ‘RTVE Radio Clásicaand YouTube. She also recorded several CDs with works by R. Groba such as the Sonata Dialogos for cello and piano, Cello Concerto nº2, little pieces and trios, as well as works by Helena Palma for cello solo. Winner of the ‘First Prize CinEOI Coruña Curtas 2012′ for her soundtrack cello solo composition ‘Un Intre’, she also recorded the soundtrack by Sergio Pena for the DVD documentary ‘Dous de vinte tantos’ for TVG.

 

As a professor, she holds a chair in cello at ‘Conservatorio Superior de Música’ of Coruña.
